Policies

The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) is an independent office of the House of Assembly. OIPC is responsible for protecting and upholding access to information and protection of privacy rights under the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 2015 (ATIPPA, 2015) and the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA). OIPC investigates and mediates complaints, and makes recommendations to government departments and other public bodies.

Integrity – OIPC staff will provide accurate, unbiased advice and recommendations.

Confidentiality – OIPC staff will adhere to a standard of absolute confidentiality.

Judgment – OIPC staff will use their professional knowledge and judgment in interpreting policies, practices, and procedures to help ensure compliance with ATIPPA, 2015 and PHIA.
